- In April 2022 I purchased 250+ billets of the most beautiful Claro Walnut I’ve ever seen in my life. I selected each piece by hand from a warehouse filled with thousands of stunning contenders. Intended for rifles, this material will instead be used to bring beautiful music into the world.
- The name of the stash is Calico Gold.
- Claro Walnut is one of my favorite materials on the planet to work with. I love the way it feels, cuts, smells, and sounds. Similar to Bastogne, Claro produces a warm and powerful voice and it’s my number one recomendation for those who desire a touch of darkness with their tone. Paired with a Redwood top, and you have yourself an ultra delicate and responsive fingerstyle instrument… overtones like woah.
- Each piece of Calico Gold Walnut is long enough as well as thick enough to slice off a set of sides from the billet, before processing things down to smaller sizes to harvest the back. In other words, the sides will be the same exact stunning material as the back.
